50 questions to ask your partner

Good questions to ask your partner invite a story rather than demand a correct answer. Start with ordinary pleasures or shared plans, then move toward more personal topics only if you both want to. Choose a few prompts, take turns, and leave room to pass or ask your own follow-up.

How can we use these questions comfortably?

Start with the section that matches your energy. Everyday questions suit a quick catch-up; memories and future plans may deserve more time. Ask whether now is a good moment rather than beginning a serious conversation while either person is distracted.

Take turns answering one question at a time. Listen before asking a follow-up, and do not use an answer as evidence that your partner has failed a test. Either person can skip, change the question or stop. You can enjoy a conversation without resolving everything it raises.

  9. What was a small adventure that felt huge at the time?
  10. Which photo has a story that is not obvious from looking at it?

What do we want to try together?

  1. Which nearby place have you always meant to visit?

  7. How would you like us to celebrate small progress?
  8. What is something you want to learn before our next big trip?
  9. Which decision would benefit from more time rather than an immediate answer?
  10. What should we revisit together in a month?

What should we do after the conversation?

Choose one detail you would like to remember or one small plan you both want to try. Ask before writing down personal answers. There is no need to keep a record of every conversation, and private stories should not be shared without permission.

Keep your favorites in a shared bucket list, browse the date ideas hub, or pick an at-home date. For something conversational, try our partner questions.

Your questions, answered.

Do we have to answer every question?

No. Choose one or two that suit the moment. Skipping a question is always allowed, and the list is not a test of trust or compatibility.

Can we use these on a video call?

Yes. Take turns choosing a prompt and leave room for pauses. Avoid asking for a personal answer when the other person is not in a private place.

Should we score our answers?

No. These prompts are for conversation. Different preferences and memories do not produce a relationship score.

Keep a little inspiration going.
